Questions & answers

The things students ask most often, about booking, paying, and getting your feedback. If your question is not here, just message me on Telegram and I will answer.

Booking a session

What happens in a Speaking Mock Test?

It is a 15 to 20 minute speaking test, one to one with me, covering all three parts of the real IELTS speaking exam. It runs online over Zoom.

After the session you get your band score, detailed written feedback on fluency, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation, and a clear plan for what to work on next.

How do I book?

Pick a day and a time on the booking calendar, fill in your name and email, and you go straight to the payment page. Your slot is held for you while you pay, and it is confirmed as soon as your payment comes through. There is no back and forth over messages.

What timezone are the times shown in?

Your own. The calendar reads the timezone from your device and shows every time in it, so what you see is what you get. The timezone name is written right above the times, so you can check it.

Do I need a camera?

No. A working microphone is all you need. Most students keep their camera off, and it makes no difference to your feedback.

Can I change or cancel my booking?

Yes. Your confirmation email has a Reschedule button and a Cancel button, so you can do both yourself.

Up to 24 hours before your slot you can move or cancel for free. Inside 24 hours the slot is usually not refundable, because that time was held for you, but message me and I will try to help. Full details are in the Refund Policy.

Should I connect Telegram?

It is optional, but I recommend it. It takes one tap on the button after you book, and then your Zoom link, reminders, payment confirmation and feedback all arrive on Telegram as well as by email. Email can land in spam. Telegram does not.

Paying

How much is a mock test?

A private mock is 50 000 UZS in Uzbekistan and $5 everywhere else. The price is shown on the booking calendar and on the button before you book, so there are no surprises.

The Sunday livestream draw is free. See the free and paid comparison on the home page.

How do I pay?

After booking you land on a payment page that shows the exact amount and a card number, with a button to copy the card number in one tap. Send the amount from your own bank app, then upload a photo of your receipt on the same page.

Your slot is held for 4 hours while you pay. If no receipt arrives by then the slot goes back on the calendar for someone else, and you are told by email and on Telegram. You can always book again.

I never see your card number. The only thing that reaches me is the receipt image, and it is deleted a few hours after I have checked it.

Why is the amount an odd number?

Because a few som are added to every payment to make each one different. That small difference is what lets me match your transfer to your booking automatically, so you get confirmed faster.

Please send the exact amount shown. If you round it up or down, matching stops working and it has to be checked by hand.

How long until my payment is confirmed?

Usually quickly. Your slot is held for you the whole time, so nobody else can take it while you are waiting.

Once it clears you get a confirmation with your Zoom link, by email and on Telegram if you connected it.

I paid, but nothing was confirmed. What do I do?

First check the amount you sent matches the amount on the payment page exactly. If it does not, that is almost always the reason.

Then message me on Telegram with your name and roughly when you paid, and I will find it and confirm you manually. You will not lose your slot.

I uploaded the wrong screenshot.

Tap the small round button in the corner of the picture to remove it, then add the right one. If you already sent it, just open the same payment link again and upload a new one.

Feedback and results

When do I get my feedback?

Within 24 hours of your session. It arrives by email, and on Telegram too if you connected it.

What do I actually get?
  • An overall band estimate, plus a score for each of the four criteria.
  • Written notes on what went well and what held your score down, with examples from your own answers.
  • A recording of the session, so you can hear yourself back.
  • A short plan of what to fix first.
Is this an official IELTS score?

No, and it is important to be clear about that. It is a practice test and an honest estimate, meant to show you where you stand and what to fix. Your real score comes from official examiners on test day. IELTSTeen is not connected to the British Council, IDP or Cambridge.

What is the progress dashboard?

It is your own page at ieltsteen.com/dashboard that keeps every mock you have taken in one place, so you can see your band moving over time and which criterion is holding you back. It unlocks after your first mock.

The free Sunday draw

How does the live draw work?

During the Sunday livestream you tap a button on the live page and get a number. If your number is drawn on stream, your own private Zoom link appears on that same page and you do your mock live.

How is it different from a paid mock?

Same examiner, same questions. The difference is that the draw is luck, it happens in public on the stream, and the feedback is spoken on the spot. A paid mock is a guaranteed slot on a day you choose, in private, and your feedback comes in writing with a recording you keep.

What if I miss my session?

I wait a little while, and if you do not appear I send you a note. A missed slot is usually not refundable, since the time was reserved, but message me and I will see what I can do.

Still stuck? Message me directly. I answer personally, usually the same day.
